We rebuild all types of water pumps, (Ford, Chevy) also all makes of aftermarket water pumps - stationary engines - vintage racing - tractors - vintage boats - cars and industrial applications.
On some we can make short water pumps from long ones. We also stock impellers - seals - bearings - hubs and can interchange parts for custom applications. We also make custom fan shrouds.
We started doing engines in 1960. Spent 18 years (72' - 90") working on Indy cars. Designed super charger kits for Paxton. Built and drove sprint cars for 20 years. Started doing water pumps in 1998.
The majority of my career has been spent in Racing and Race Fabrication. In 1998 While working in a race shop a customer brought in a small water pump, and I rebuilt it. That was the beginning, and now I rebuild pumps from all over. Antique, high performance, industrial, and agricultural applications from throughout the U.S. and abroad. We also do matching numbered pumps!
Things have changed since then and original and some replacement parts are no longer available. This requires many pumps to be modified and re-machined to make it work. In 1947 the Italian manufacturers invented the first unitized seal. Soon after all of Europe also used that technology, but not in the U.S. until the 1960's. Soon they were manufactured in the U.S. comprising some 30 sizes. Early pumps used a bushing with a graphite seal and gland nut. Later it was dual ball bearings and a two piece seal, and then a unitized bearing and seal.
For many of these situations, the water pump housing must be re-machined to accept the seal that is closest to fitting the application, using special tools I have made for the process. Occasionally, a seal will fit without machining, although not too frequently. There really aren't any books that list component parts for water pumps anymore, so the old pump must be disassembled, cleaned, inspected, measured, and matched to more modern bearings, seals, impellers, and hubs, effectively re-engineering the pump for maximum performance and durability. There is a few industrial application water pumps I remanufactured that are still going strong today a decade or so later. Racing applications where the water pump has run a full season without incident. Much of the machining process has required that I make special tooling and fixtures to do the job today. The mission is to build it better.
