WATER PUMP SPECIALISTS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

My name is Rich Bures.  I started a company called "Water Pump Specialists" almost 3 decades ago, after I rebuilt a water pump for a customer, then the word got out.

The majority of my career, and much of my 50 year experience comes from working in racing and race car fabrication.

Early water pump design utilized a bushing with a graphite seal and gland nut to hold it together.  As design improvements progressed, the configuration was dual ball bearings and a 2- piece seal.   Some replacement parts are just not reliable and not available.

The latest technology was actually invented by Italian engineers in 1947 when they developed the first unitized seal.  A unitized seal and bearing configuration was adopted by U.S. Manufacturers from aviation and automotive and presently is in production.

Lets make it better!!

Old designs were not durable and brought problems.  Re-Engineering the pump for more performance and durability is the focus at Water Pump Specialists.  Your tired old pump is disassembled and cleaned.  Components are inspected, measured and machined with modern bearings, seals, impellers and hubs.  Always fill with Prestone antifreeze coolant, prediluted 50/50.  Never use water!!

Every effort will be made to return to you a component that is superior to original.  The average cost to custom re-manufacture a water pump is approximately $200.00.  Should your core require more extensive machine work, you will be notified.  The process has required special tooling and fixtures to do the job, which I have had to make.  I have a complete library of books listing bearings.  Last printed in early 50's.  If a bearing is not available I can look up a replacement that will fit.

Let's address the shipping!  Please clean your core up a bit, wrap in in paper, and put it in a box.  Buy a shipping label, then buy a Return ticket, and put it in the box with your pump.  Please include all contact information.

This was brought to my attention:

Water pump rebuilder kits:  First of all, where do they come from, maybe China.  It doesn't show any tools necessary to rebuild a pump.  This is only the beginning!  If you don't know how to remove the bearing, you could break the housing.  What type of seal is in this kit?  Never use 2-piece seals.  The picture below is tools I had to make to install different seals.  Better give this some thought!!
